This weekend was cold as a witches ice cube. Olivia and I went out and ran twice over the 3 day weekend. On Saturday we ran a six mile loop, and on Monday we did 7 miles. We are both preparing for our Half Marathon this coming up Saturday. Should be fun. We both feel ready for it and I don’t think it should be too bad.
I’ve been working hard on figuring out exactly what kind of fuels I need to eat to make my runs feel more energized. I tried a few days of low carbs and I know FULL well that that is a horrible way to prepare for a run. I tried a few days of heavy carbs with not much protein. My runs were energized, but I was sore longer than usual. *Makes sense*
So what I have figured out is that right before going to sleep I need to eat a bowl of cereal, or something similar to that. The morning of a run, I have to keep it really light but make sure that I eat enough that I don’t get dizzy during the run. This is a hard balance to figure out and I still haven’t gotten it just right. I’m going to try to wake up at 5:00am tomorrow and eat a bunch of fruit only before going out at 6:00. Also I need to hydrate better before heading out. I look forward to seeing how tomorrow morning pans out.
