I knew I wouldn’t wake up this morning to go running, so I ran last night after Harold Night. It was almost 50 degrees out and there was no way I could pass that up. I’ll be honest. I’m a little scared to run at night, but I carry next to nothing on me other than my phone, so I’m not too worried. Also, I’m probably in better shape than most people who would rob me, so I could probably out run them.
So last night I did my old 4 mile loop, which starts at my apartment and ends leaving the park. The run started off great, but I did NOT want to be out there. Sometimes running is just super boring, and last night was one of those nights, but I knew I had to get it done because I was not going to wake up and do it. So I made a challenge to myself. I challenged myself to run the last mile harder than I have run any mile to date.
I can now happily say that I ran my first ever sub eight minute mile. The time was 7:48. This blew my mind and made me super happy for having got off my ass and just went running. Average pace for all four miles was 8:33. If I didn’t do such a slow warm up mile I probably could have gotten that lower. I do know that there is no way I can do the half at that pace though. Back to 9-10 minute miles for that.
